ULAN BATOR, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- Mongolia has harvested a total of 745,100 tons of grain crops this autumn, a decline of 40.3 percent compared with the previous year, the country's Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry said Wednesday.
Currently, the agricultural sector accounts for more than 10 percent of Mongolia's gross domestic product. Mongolia's agriculture is heavily reliant on nomadic livestock farming, with approximately 75 percent of its territory used for pasture.
However, the promotion of the agricultural and livestock sectors is hindered by extreme temperature fluctuations, including long and harsh winters, droughts, and low summer rainfall. ■
