HANOI, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- The death toll from heavy rains and flooding in Vietnam's central region has risen to 47, with eight people missing and 130 others injured, the Vietnam Disaster and Dyke Management Authority reported Wednesday.
More than 44,200 houses remain inundated, while 108 others were destroyed or swept away, and 694 were damaged, according to the report.
The floods also submerged more than 11,300 hectares of rice and other crops. Over 152,100 livestock and poultry were killed or swept away.
Meanwhile, power outages continue to affect more than 95,300 households, the report said. ■
