ATHENS, Feb. 2 (Xinhua) -- Triple Oscar-winning British actor Daniel Day-Lewis visited Greece for a charitable premiere of his latest film "Phantom Thread" on Thursday evening.

All the proceeds from the premiere at Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center will be donated to the Open-Door Center of Education and Rehabilitation to support people with cerebral palsy of all ages.

"Nobody in this room could doubt Daniel's enormous talent as an actor. I would like to mention his other talent and that is a talent for friendship and love," Daphne Economou, founder of Cerebral Palsy Greece, told reporters during a press conference before the screening of the new film.

The star visited Athens for the first time in 1989 for the premiere of his film "My Left Foot." He had then visited children at the Open-Door Center.

Since then, the 60-year-old actor has not missed any of his film premieres in Athens.

"Phantom Thread" will be his swan song as he announced last June. In this film the actor had played the role of a man with serious physical disabilities.

"I am incredibly thankful for all of it, but I feel it is time to explore the world in a different way now," Day-Lewis said during the press conference.

"For me, the hardest part is that I am still very interested in these people when I finish. Because as you never fully explore your own life, how could you possibly explore the life of someone else in such a relatively short time? I think I hold on to it for a while," he said.

Day-Lewis has earned numerous awards, including three Oscars for Best Actor for his performances in "My Left Foot" (1989), "There Will Be Blood" (2007) and "Lincoln" (2012), making him the only male actor in history to have three wins in the lead actor category.
